Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary & Jaguar Preserve

Time: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

The world’s only jaguar preserve is a superb place for birding, hiking, and wildlife viewing. Hiking trails are well marked and range from easy to more challenging, and it’s possible to see howler monkeys, agouyi brocket deer, and peccary. The 128,000 acre wildlife sanctuary is a jaguar hotspot and provides a critical habitat for an estimated 80 jaguars. Take a picnic lunch, float down the river in an inner tube, and then cool off under refreshing waterfalls.
